http://bountycpa.go2cloud.org/SH7wRLa Liga President Javier Tebas has accepted Real Madrid won’t give potential league champions Barcelona a guard of honour as it would “humiliate” them.
Barcelona are currently top of La Liga and clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid by 12 points with five games to play. Real Madrid – who occupy third place – are a massive 15 points behind their arch-rivals.
Ernesto Valverde’s only took a point away from the Celta Vigo match in midweek – a 2-2 draw with goals from Ousmane Dembele and Paco Alcacer – to stretch their lead at the top of the table after Atletico Madrid were beaten on Wednesday.
The last time the guard of honour tradition was respected between the two sides was back in 2008, when Barcelona stood aside for league champions Real Madrid. However because Barcelona did not applaud Real onto the pitch after their Club World Cup triumph last summer, Zinedine Zidane recently stated he would refuse to do so should the league leaders wrap up the title in time for the next El Clasico at Camp Nou on 6 May.
